The Times They Are A-Changin'

Recently, I’ve come to realise that nothing is written in stone. True, some things can be carved into stone. Much to the annoyance of the stone, no doubt. A few things can be written out in loose stones, but it’s no medium for long form communication and it’s lacking a certain portability.

Depending on who you speak to, it’s possible that one man climbed up a mountain and come back down holding ten rather preachy rules captured on stone tablets. Doubtlessly giving birth to those dreaded words: health and safety. Although, when it came to those particular stones, they went on to cause far more bother than just a little nagging backache on the slopes on Mount Sinai.

Not that stone is the only option. We’ve had parchment and paper for a long time now. More recently, a lot of things have simply been typed straight onto a screen; their words reduced to lingering digital content, dreading the next click or scroll which might cast them off, into oblivion.

Sadly none of these methods are impervious to change and something has indeed changed. A fact that any of who you searching for my books on Amazon in the last week will have found. As of last Sunday, all of my work previously published by Kensington Gore is no longer available on that particular website. Or anywhere else, for that matter.

If you’ve previously bought yourself any of those novellas, collections or novels then, first of all, I’d like to say thank you.

Thank you.

There was a time when all your purchases actually helped one of my novellas reach the top of an Amazon chart and beat a Walking Dead novel in the process.

Secondly, here’s a piece of good news for you: you’re now the proud owner of what we can officially label a first edition. But fret not, potentially what you have there won’t be the only edition. I’ve been looking over those old stories again and some of them might get a little retooling before they reappear. Meanwhile, others might not see the light of day again. Only time, the fickle world of publishing and a certain unstoppable internet shopping website will tell.

In the meantime, there are plenty of other available avenues if you’re looking for my stories. The Wicked Library, The Lift, Shadows at the Door. Sanitarium Magazine, The Ghastling and The Infernal Clock all feature my work. Some offer it in podcast form, whilst others have published it in brilliant anthologies and magazines, alongside some truly top notch horror. Also, don’t forget, there are few stories available to you on this very site for free.

So, never fear, the Amazon might’ve run dry for me at the moment, but I don’t think that’s going to be the end of me writing and selling my own brand of fantastical, scary nonsense. I’m sure you’ll have something to add to your shelves soon enough.
